The Greatest Journey
We are excited to share that OCC has introduced a new follow-up discipleship program, The Greatest Journey, to help children become faithful followers of Jesus Christ.

The Greatest Journey begins when children are freely offered Gospel storybooks during Operation Christmas Child shoe box gift distributions. The Greatest Gift of All booklets—printed in over 70 languages—contain colorful illustrations that explain the Good News of Jesus Christ in a simple, engaging style.

The most far-reaching impact comes later, when boys and girls are invited to participate in the voluntary Bible study course produced by Samaritan’s Purse. The 12-lesson set guides children through a study of who Jesus Christ is, what it means to follow Him, and how to share this exciting message with others. After children complete the program, they are presented with a personalized certificate.

Beyond the Shoe Box
The power of a shoe box gift does not stop with the shoe box itself. Children are introduced to Jesus through colorful Gospel booklets handed out during the distributions. Local churches invite them to a follow-up discipleship program that includes a series of engaging Bible lessons. Graduates receive a New Testament to encourage them to learn more about the Savior. As they grow in their faith, these same children become witnesses of God’s love in their communities.

Ten years ago, a young girl named Oksana Nelson received a shoe box at her orphanage in Russia.  The box was the start of great blessings in her life, and today the teenager is passing on those blessings to other hurting kids through Operation Christmas Child. We hope Oksana’s video report will encourage all those who participate in OCC and help them know that their gifts are making an impact, both now and for eternity.  To view this, as well as other OCC videos through the Samaritan's Purse website, click

Team Positions Available
Although shoe boxes are collected every year in November, volunteers are needed year-round to promote and pray for Operation Christmas Child.   Our North Jersey Area Team offers a variety of volunteer opportunities in the areas of prayer, church relations, community relations, media, and shoe box collection.   We'd love to have you join our team and use your gifts in any of these these areas!   For more information about volunteer opportunities, please contact Area Coordinator, Fortune Mandaro.
